Hatchery Manager

Salary: $90,000 - $130,000

As Hatchery Manager, you will lead all aspects of hatchery operations to ensure consistent spat production, high-quality standards, and best-practice biosecurity.

You will work closely with farm and science teams to align hatchery performance with wider operational and research objectives.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee daily hatchery operations including larvae production, broodstock management, and environmental controls

  • Implement and maintain robust biosecurity and quality control systems

  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of hatchery technicians

  • Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance and system upgrades

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental regulations, and export hygiene requirements

  • Monitor performance against production targets and report on outcomes

What we’re looking for

  • A relevant tertiary degree (e.g. aquaculture, marine science, or a related field)

  • 1–3 years’ experience as a Hatchery Technician or in a similar role

  • Leadership capability with the confidence to guide and develop a team

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • A commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
