An Aquaculture RAS Technician is responsible for the day-to-day care, feeding and health monitoring of farmed species such as Kingfish and Salmon.
They are responsible for ensuring optimal growing conditions for the fish. This includes plant and equipment maintenance, fish husbandry and harvest, hygiene duties, data acquisition and data recording. This is a hands-on role requiring a good level of physical fitness. Rostered work of 80 hours for fortnight and with experience some after-hours on call.
Key tasks
Clean, inspect and maintain fish tanks and feeding systems
Feed fish according to schedule and stock biomass
Monitor of water quality
Identify and report signs of disease, injury or stress
Assist in preparing fish for harvest
Entry level
Relevant Tertiary Aquaculture qualification beneficial but not essential
Good level of physical fitness and interest in active work
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Basic plumbing and low voltage electrical wiring experience.
Ability to follow processes consistently
Maintenance of monitoring and RAS equipment
Assessment of fish for growth and condition
General
Follow strict hygiene and bio-security protocols
Adhere to Health and Safety standard
Maintain RAS infrastructure
