An Aquaculture RAS Senior Technician is responsible for supervising the day-to-day care, feeding and health monitoring of farmed species such as Kingfish and Salmon.
They are responsible for ensuring and supporting the technicians in providing optimal growing conditions for the fish, making sure the feeding and production strategy is implemented tank side. Planning with Production manager and directing work. Recognising and responding to system changes.
Key tasks
Supervision of farm workers and technicians
Ensuring all daily work is completed to an appropriate standard at the end of each day
Monitor of water quality and response to issues if required
Respond to fish health concerns and escalate as appropriate
Checking maintenance of monitoring and RAS equipment is on task
Assessment of fish for growth and condition, assisting Production manager with planning
General
Follow strict hygiene and bio-security protocols
Adhere to Health and Safety standard
Maintain RAS infrastructure
Troubleshooting and assisting staff with issues
Entry level
Relevant Tertiary Aquaculture qualification beneficial
Strong understanding of Recirculating systems and Production
Good level of physical fitness
Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Basic plumbing and low voltage electrical wiring experience.
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving
