Process Worker / Packers / Oyster and Mussel Openers

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000

An Aquaculture Process Worker plays a key role in preparing and processing farmed seafood — helping to ensure it’s handled safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality

What you’ll do

The work is hands-on and can include tasks such as:

  • Sorting, grading, and cleaning harvested fish or shellfish.

  • Operating processing equipment such as conveyors, graders, and packing machines.

  • Packaging and labelling seafood ready for transport or sale.

  • Maintaining hygiene and safety standards in line with food processing regulations.

  • Assisting with quality checks to make sure products meet customer and export requirements.

What we’re looking for

  • It’s an active, team-based role that suits people who are reliable, detail-oriented, and enjoy practical work.

  • You will need to be physically fit (able to lift up to 15-20kg) with entry-level numeracy and communication skills.

  • PITO New Zealand Certificate in Seafood Processing Apprenticeship -L3-L4

  • Food Safety

  • Workplace Health and Safety

  • Forklift Licence
