Farm Manager
Salary: $85,000 - $130,000
A Farm Manager oversees all aspects of farm operations—from animal husbandry, harvest planning, and supply, through to equipment management, logistics, people leadership, planning, and reporting.
The scope of work varies between employers and may include everything from spat collection and nursery operations through to harvest and delivery. The role involves a mix of outdoor work in marine environments (harbours, estuaries, intertidal zones) and office-based tasks.
What you’ll do
Plan and manage day-to-day farm operations including labour tasking, harvest planning, stock management, equipment calibration, and biosecurity
Oversee health and safety compliance, staff training, and risk assessments
Manage crews, contractors, and work schedules
Contribute to broader farm strategy and work collaboratively with the wider leadership team
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Risk Management requirements
Lead people practices including employee relations, payroll, and staff development
What we’re looking for
Minimum of 2 years’ management experience, or progression from a Farm Supervisor or Assistant Farm Manager role
Skipper’s ticket
Strong people-management capability
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Quality & Safety, Risk Management, and people processes (e.g. payroll, conflict resolution, recruitment)
Build on your qualifications
PITO Level 4 in Aquaculture (Shellfish)
First Aid certification
Health and Safety training
